Quotes...

Well, Allie is on a roll lately with the cute sayings.

At church on Sunday, we had a flute solo in between the talks.  It was really beautiful.  I turned to see Allie asking me if someone was dead.

****************************************
The other day Allie and I visited a nursery to grab some plants.  While we were there, we were given this awfully large grocery cart to use to gather the plants.  The aisles at the nursery were pretty thin.  I had a really hard time keeping the cart on the pathes.  Plus, the racket that stupid cart created on concrete was another thing I could have gone without.

Checking out of the nursery was not fun.  First, you had to haul the honking cart into a little place with lots of other honking carts.  Then there was a brand new cashier who knew squat about checking people out.  Then there was the guy who I'm pretty sure budded in front of me.  Any who, it took a good 15 minutes of manuevering and waiting to get checked out.

After we got in the car on the way out of there.  I mentioned out loud how big of a madhouse that place had been.  A few seconds later Allie was like "Mom, why was that house so mad?"

A good old fashioned Sunday activity

Allie and i were playing "I spy" in church during the latter part of Sacrament meeting. Earlier in the meeting, our elderly neighbor Wanda, had given a talk and was still sitting on the stand. I took my turn in the game and said to Allie, "I spy something gold."

After a few wrong guesses, she asked if it was Wanda's hair.

Ice Skating

Last weekend we were able to take the girls ice skating for their first time.  We've been meaning to get there for a while because they earned it by reading their scriptures.  Unfortunately, it took us a while to finally fulfill their request.
It's pretty cool to have something like this so close to home!
Ellyse absolutely LOVED it.  Allie, not so much.

Allie was basically screaming for about 70% of the time.  I thought I'd be able to get some photos out on the ice. May be even a video but I was so busy helping Allie avoid screaming and watching Ellyse excel that I didn't get much of a chance. It took Allie quite a bit of time to be able to skate by just holding hands. I figured out that if I held her in between my legs while skating, she could actually enjoy it a bit more. :)

Ellyse keeps asking when we can go again. It makes me happy to know that she likes ice skating. When we have asked her in the past if she'd like to do some of the normal kid activities like soccer, tumbling, etc. she's not always been so willing.

Ellyse may even be taking lessons here soon.  I'd love for her to have to earn some of the money for the lessons so she's more motivated. I'm not quite sure how to go about this though.  Any ideas are welcome.

Advice from Ellyse...

"Never eat jail food...It's greasy"  said while we were on 24th street in West Ogden.  I'm not sure where it came from in her head, but I thought the location of our whereabouts added to the strangness of her comment.  She quickly followed that dousy with "Yeh, so if you ever want to grab us some lunch from a take out place, just don't make it jail food." ......Noted!

Oh, and if you are up early enough to check out a most beautiful pink morning sky and happen to point it out to Ellyse, she'll let you know that "Mars may be exploded."....So wise, this one!

One of my most favorite authors!

From one of my favorite authors....Ellyse :).  Above is her rendition of Selena Gomez's "I love you like a lovesong baby!"
I lOVE this!  I told her to write a story in church one day and this is what she came up with.
Translation: There was a monster. It lived in a castle. It would eat you if you got into the castle.  It was a bed monster.  It would wake up if you go into the castle. The end.

Moral: I don't think we ought to go in the castle!

Lemowade Stand

E and A begged for a few days to do a lemowade (as Allie says it) stand. So, finally after I put them off for a few days, their daddy let them do it on the day he gets to stay home with them.

They got quite a few sales too! I think Allie figured out a secret weapon.

A lady was passing by on foot and they asked her if she wanted a lemowade. She politely told them she didn't have any coins or money with her and walked on. Fair enough.

A little later that same women came by in her car and patronized their stand. She let Jason know that she had to come back because after she told them about her not having coins, the littlest one gave her the biggest scuz face she'd ever seen!

We'll be sure to remind her of this technique come fundraising time!

Fun at home, Round 2

This morning I got a call from our friend who watches our girls. She wants to take the girls with her and her family to eat and wants to know if it's alright to come and pick them up?

Of course it is! How nice of you!

So, I tell the girls to get ready and I jump in the shower to get ready for work. After the shower, I'm quickly trying to make sure they brush their teeth and hair, get dressed, get shoes on, etc, in time to go with said friend. And I'm asked by Allie if I'd be willing to put this bow in her hair. Yes, honey but it's red and green and you're wearing orange today. Well, okay, yes, we can put in an orange hair thing as well as the red and green one. Sure, just tell the friend's mom not to judge me alright?

Well, in getting things done so quickly, I hadn't quite had the time to get dressed yet and because my girls are so young, I'm naked. Yes, naked. It often happens when 4 people share a bathroom, AND YOU'RE A MOM of young kids. So, anyway, as I'm putting the hair thing in Allie's hair, she studies me. Pretty soon I hear.. "You're boobs are really big!"

Well, that's a first.

Fun at home

Allie was recently at my mom's house and my mom was doing Allie's hair. Allie kept looking up at grandma's face and then down and then up at her face and down again and finally told grandma: Grandma, you have really big boobs! Grandma laughed and asked if she'd learned about boobs from her daddy. --- Yep!

*******************************************************************************

My mom has some issues with her feet and needs to wear comfortable shoes all day pretty much every day. Allie again was studying my mom and asked her:
Grandma, do you take your shoes off when you go to bed?

********************************************************************************

Last Sunday Ellyse and Allie were playing in E's room. Ellyse was reading Genesis aloud and I think Allie was trying to start pretend playtime.

Ellyse - "and there were lights in the firmament"
Allie - And they found Jesus, and lived happily ever after.

Outside of Peery's Egyptian Theatre where we had our dance recital. Cute kiddo's!

Tiny Planet

On a blog I read regularly, the app Tiny Planet was featured. It's takes a photo and basically twists it. You then have the option to save it or email it or delete it etc. This is the post that peeked my interest. Here is her photo.
I'm always interested in tweaking my photo skills seeing as I. Don't. Have. Any. Photo. Skills!

I downloaded the free app and starting playing. At first I tried it on inanimate objects. Before:

Hahahaha

Recently heard by my ears, Ellyse and I are in the back seat together on the way home from a fun night out: E: pinky promise. Mom? Pinky promise. Pointing her finger at me. Me: it's actually called pinky swear. You do this, (link our pinkies together) and then say pinky swear. Ellyse's face gets really somber and she says you're not suppose to say that! Me: what?! E: You're really not suppose to say that! Me: honey, you can say pinky swear but you can't swear.

On the way to The Home Depot, we passed Ihop. Allie goes Look Lesee, there's the pancake place! Ellyse goes "Ihop stands for Natural House of Pancakes!" She was totally sure that that was correct too.

Laugh your little heads off....

Whiles't yelling, ahem, discussing at my children that screaming in the house is about as attractive as a splattered fly in your diet coke. I told them to stop screaming their little heads off. They busted up laughing and now it's a running joke in the household. - thus, the post title.-

Enjoy this...It's very enjoyable!

Our super smart kids...

Recent conversation in our home: While coloring a map of the U.S. Cousin says - that's wezzeeanna (louisana), Allie: Cheeseyanna? Cousin: No. Wezzeaanna.

Moving on to another state, Cousin: This is Kansas, Ellyse: Where's Kansas? Cousin: Far, far away. Ellyse: So, in Syracuse?

Fun Family Quote

Last evening we were all over at great grandma J's home and the girls were busily playing on the floor as we chatted away. Allie comes up and asks me what I'd like for dinner with a pencil and pad of paper in hand to take my order. I tell her and she runs and grabs a spool of thread to represent the pizza that I asked her for. Ellyse wants in on the fun so we include her. We all give them our orders and I write it down for Ellyse to read. Now, she's just getting the hang of reading and this will help her learn and show off her skills to the 'rents. We all said our orders out loud and then I transcribed them onto the pad of paper. She then "read" the paper and handed out the orders. Well, to spice things up a bit and get her cogs turning, I told her I was going to have everyone mouth their orders to me and I'd write them down and she'd have to read them and hand them out appropriately. She didn't like this idea, even though she LOVED all the attention, she said "no mom, don't have everyone quietly give you their orders" I was all "but it will test you" she resisted. I mentioned that it would show us how smart she is. She pipes back "No! I ALREADY KNOW HOW SMART I AM."

She completed each order with perfection. Cute kid!

This morning, AT 6 AM - don't have kids - Allie wakes up screaming something about her Mickey - special blanket- she sometimes does this and then falls back to sleep so I gave it a minute. Minute over, still screaming, so I tend to her and tell her to go back to sleep. She minds so well and gets up and runs to Ellyse's room. ( I really love how close they are) Ellyse tells her to go back to sleep. YAY ELLYSE!!! YOU GET 100 POINTS! Allie goes back to her bed but continues to cry and then slowly makes her way back to Ellyse's room in the dark. It's 6 AM people! Allie tells Ellyse she's scared and Ellyse says "Don't be scared Allie, I'm right here."

Isn't that the cutest? Okay, go ahead and have some kids.

Miss E

"Star light,
Star bright,
I wish I had some makeup tonight."

Ellyse said this on our walk home from the store yesterday evening. Cute. She started Kindergarten this last Monday and I'll have pic's soon.

Literally, a little too literal...

For family home evening this week, we decided that we'd discuss the timeless story of Noah's Ark in honor of our little trip we're taking this weekend where we'll see a mock Noah's Ark.

J and I navigated through the story and J remembered to bring up that the flood came because the people living on the Earth at the time were wicked. When E asked what wicked meant, we let her know in basic terms, it's when people do bad things and don't keep the commandments of God; and went on with the lesson.

Tuesday, my sister and I decided to head to the Splash pad in S. Ogden. After we got sufficiently splashed, we headed home and I happened to have "The Incredibles" playing in the van. All the sudden E shouted out, from over the noise of her headphones that the little boy on 'The Incredibles' called the Incredibles 'totally wicked.'

Had to chuckle a bit and then come up with a clever way to introduce her to American Slang.

Where are zu?

Allie's in the fun stage of toddler talk and it's so endearing to hear! I just want to tape record every single conversation right now.

When we head up to my mom's house in the valley, (Kent and Jason can just shut up about me calling it THE valley - cuz that's what it's called okay?) Ahem. And in THE valley there are horses right? One day on the way up there, we saw a horse that had just had a colt. There weren't any cars around so I pulled over and we all got out and pet the horses and the colt. Shhhhh. Don't tell my kids but I had just as much fun, if not more, than they did. We said goodbye after a minute and then went on our way. Well, we pass this pasture every time we go up there and so I try and point out the horses for the girls to look at and Allie always says Horsie? Horsie? And then I point out where she should look for them.

Today, we had to go the doctor's office. We turned down a street in which Allie all the sudden thought we were up in THE valley again and started saying 'Horsie? Where are zu? Horsie? Horsie, where are zu?' I just grinned from ear to ear because it was so stinkin cute.

Too bad they were BOTH diagnosed with ear infections. I swear they're contagious!
